I watched a TV show one day and the host was talking about alcohol and substance abuse. Her guests were addicted with alcohol and drugs. They were lucky because they were offered a drug and alcohol rehab right away. There were guests that gave drug rehab info and addiction resource information. But that person who was offered declined. She was not sure yet whether to accept the offer or not. She didn't want to be separated from her family and friends. The host told her that the reason for her not accepting the rehab was because of her contacts. She didn't want to stop because she was really addicted.
It is really difficult to be an addict. I knew someone that undergone rehab already but when they get out, they still go back and become addicted again. It is their choice and they blame the alcohol and substances, not theirselves. I know it is hard to fight temptations especially if you were tempted before. Becoming an addict again is what we fear for the people close to our hearts. So even if it is hard for us to be separated, it is our only choice to give help and to let them be treated from the addiction.
